ADAS Calibration In The Twin Cities

Twin Cities Auto Glass is a leading provider of calibrations for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in the Minneapolis – Saint Paul Metro and the Greater St Cloud Area.

Vehicle Camera Calibration

Correctly calibrating your vehicle camera after a windshield replace or accident is extremely important as even a 1° change in your glass angle or thickness can make your sensors inaccurate.  At Twin Cities Auto Glass, we have the experience and equipment needed to get your Advanced Driver Assistance Systems re-calibrated correctly so you can be safe on the road.

Limited Life Time Warranty

All windshield repairs performed by Twin Cities Auto Glass come with a lifetime warranty and a 100% satisfaction guarantee. In the event that your rock chip cracks out, during or after the repair, or if you are not completely satisfied with the repair. We will apply the cost of the repair towards the cost of a new windshield installed by Twin Cities Auto Glass.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)

Around the year 2012 vehicle manufacturers started equipping premium vehicles with Lane Departure Warning Systems. These systems would alert you if you happened to drift out of your lane. At first, it was everyone’s belief that as long as you did not unplug the system (which is typically located in the rearview mirror assembly) that you could simply reinstall it on the new windshield and the system would function correctly. Soon the industry caught up with the technology and realized that if the angle of the windshield was changed even slightly the system would not work as designed resulting in possible false readings.

Now, it is predicted that by the year 2025 nearly 50% of all vehicles on the road will be equipped with a type of ADAS and 93% of new vehicles will have at least one ADAS feature. It is required not only by the Automobile Manufacturers but by the Insurance Industry to have a ADAS system calibration completed after the removal and installation of a windshield.

Three Service Options

At Twin Cities Auto Glass we are able to utilize three different processes to perform the necessary calibration (Dynamic, Static, & Dual).  The type of calibration you will need is determined by your car manufacturer.  If your vehicle is equipped with ADAS it will need one of the following calibrations completed:

Dynamic Calibration: This type of calibration is able to be performed mobile at the location of your vehicle.  This service is done through the on-board computer while the vehicle is moving.  It allows the camera to read the lines and lane dividers to calibrate back to original manufacturer standards. Dynamic Calibrations typically take 30 minutes and the roads need to be clear of snow.

Static Calibration:  Some vehicles require a static calibration. This requires the vehicle to be brought into one of our calibration centers.  Once we have the vehicle we replace the windshield.  We then either hook up our Autel or Opti Aim calibration system and setup brand-specific targets at a predefined distance to allow the camera to calibrate itself while sitting still.  Once completed we road test to confirm all ADAS systems are functioning as intended.  This calibration can take up to two hours.

Dual Calibration:  This requires both Dynamic and Static calibrations to be done.

Our staff at Twin Cities Auto Glass will be able to tell you which one of these calibrations is the required for your vehicle.
